It isn't the size difference per se, it is the risk taking. Anybody can pick and choose bigger fighters to fight after analyzing them and seeing there is no risk (see, e.g., Roy Jones vs. John Ruiz). that's what Floyd does. It pretty much is over once Floyd makes a fight--we all know he wouldn't take the fight unless he was convinced there was no risk in it to him.

Look at the Cotto fight. Floyd fought Cotto at 154. So what? Cotto is a tiny 154 lber (came up originally from 140) and is nowhere near the best at that weight. Why won't Mayweather fight Golovkin at 154 or Martinez at 154? Both have said they'd come down and fight him at 154. Floyd's excuse can't be name recognition. Martinez is a huge name right now. While no Floyd or Pacquiao, he is a much bigger name than either Guerrero or Alexander, neither one of which will put a single ass in a single seat for the Floyd fight. Golovkin would sell more tickets and do better in ppv than either Guerrero or Alexander would.

So until Floyd fights "bigger" fighters that are actually a risk, this is all just a smoke screen. I would compare what he's done to what Shane Mosley has done. Mosley went up in class and fought prime guys that were big like Vernon Forest at 147 (6'0") and widely recognized as the best in their division like Winky Wright at 154. Even when Mosley fought De La Hoya, it was coming up two weight classes (he had fought two fights only at 147) and was against the best 147 pound fighter in the world (and one of the best p4p).

Floyd's best fight against a fighter above 135 is against De La Hoya who was pretty much done by the time of their fight having only fought 1 time in the past 3 years. Mayweather has zero fights above 140 against prime top flight competition at the fighter's natural weight. Zero. You simply can't talk size without talking quality and risk.

I believe so. Prime margarito had a better chance of beating floyd than marquez ever had. Styles make fights. Nobody can outbox floyd so boxers have zero chance. Guys like pac, margarito who are willing to take damage to dish out their own are the ones who would give floyd his toughest fight.

Agreed. When was the last time Floyd fought a slick boxer?

Mayweather doesn't take risks. Trout or Martinez are risks.

Pac was the fore-runner to face Floyd but their fight never materialized. And then JMM defeated Pac. And all of a sudden JMM starts calling the name of Floyd? JMM knows that Pac was once upon a time in equal footing with Floyd in the P4P top not just defeating one or two or three notable fighters to be on that spot, but most of them were hardened fighters on his way from Flyweight to WW, and many of them potentially to be inscribed to the HOF! By defeating Pac at this moment of his career doesn’t make JMM have the ticket to fight Floyd for the second time. His one-sided defeat to Floyd on their first and only encounter proves his style doesn’t have that card to defeat the Floyd style. Aside from Pac, he didn't defeat any top fighters in the WW, just yet.

What a bluff to kicked-start Pac-JMM 5 negotiation in demanding a higher purse of the share! If this happened, there’s no wrong for demanding a higher purse as he deserves it, but for heaven sake, they should starts negotiating head-on, set a date, sign the contract and prepare for this much-awaited 5th encounter! Many believes, including myself that JMM could not duplicate what he did on their 4th fights, hence the 5th will be the moment of truth!

Why is everyone calling Guerrero a come forward fighter? He is no slickster but he can box...
