wtf is wrong with this forum. very uninformed. in fact it's almost as if some people like to uniform themselves on purpose around here.

both usada & vada have no say in the commission nore the events. what both of these companies do is make tests public to the world & thats where it ends (further action can be taken such as the ban but that could take months) usada let GBP (and the world) know that erik tested positive. GBP downplayed the test & refused to give up their date. (what does that have to do with usada?) usada doesn't control the events nore the commission (they haven't invested any money in the actual event. he who's invested in the event has the say on what happens to the event. which is GBP) usada did their job by publicizing the negative test to the entire world.

if usada wanted to be quiet or hide eriks test you wouldn't have heard anything in till after the fight. (in fact you probably wouldn't have heard anything at all)

are you ******? so what's the use of conducting this kind of testing if it won't deter dirty fighters from fighting after getting caught? usada should have see to it that the fight get cancelled because their reputation is at stake.

the difference between vada and usada is that vada informed the commission about their findings and so the promoter was left with no choice but to cancel the fight. usada on the other hand just let gbp handle the whole situation. they didn't lift a finger when gbp decided to continue with the fight even after they caught morales. you're dumb if you don't put a question on that.

So what do you want done?

It is the promoters that pay for the voluntary random drug testing. VADA was getting paid by Golden Boy. USADA was getting paid by Golden Boy. There is nothing that can be done about this type of conflict of interest because the boxing commissions are uninterested in doing their own random drug testing or joining forces with USADA and VADA.

would it be ok for you if promoters or fighters hire the refs and judges for their fights? same concept applies here. drug testing should be regulated and so their should be a regulatory body to handle it. the commission's lack of interest or whatever is not an excuse to let drug testing in the hands of promoters or fighters.

It is not an excuse, it is a fact that's presently happening. Random drug testing is being handled by both promoters and fighters all because boxing commissions refuse to get involved. Do I think that is a good thing? No! But there is nothing that can be done about this until boxing commissions decided to work in conjunction with testing agencies (USADA, VADA).

When a Commission doesn't want to get involved, what else do you want done? What's the alternative? No voluntary random testing at all? That is the only alternative left.

In regards to the Morales-Garcia fight, NYSAC was informed, they made the call to sanction the fight, GBP could also have deep sixed it but didn't. How is any of that USADA's fault? They ran into a problematic situation for positive clen but they had NO say in whether the fight went on or not. They provided testing services as contracted.

The Peterson-Khan fight wasn't any better, VADA knew about the first positive A sample in mid April but didn't inform NSAC until May after the B sample tested positive, weeks after Peterson knew about the result. Ultimately GBP decided to scuttle the fight because NSAC wasn't able to provide a hearing on the issue until the week of the fight, and there was no guarantee NSAC would license Peterson.

Neither testing agency has any say in whether the fight proceeds or not.

I like Vada. They seem neutral and fair. Usada sometimes seem to have an agenda. If a fighter was fighting Mayweather I'd insist on Vada. Mayweather seems too cozy with usada.

any fighter who wants extra testing should still have to go through the commission. if the commission is not equipped to conduct such testing, then an outside agency will be hired to conduct the test by the commission and no one else. any extra amount for the testing will then be collected by the commission from the fighters or promoters.

it's the same thing with refs and judges. the commission has the sole responsibility to appoint those officials. fighters are free to refused an official which they think will not render fair judgement but never, never should a fighter or promoter appoint/hire any official or testing agency for that matter.

self regulation has no place in any sport...that's ridiculous. and anyone who supports that idea is dumb.

Are you kiddin me? The Commission was invited during the initial Pacquaio vs. Mayweather saga. The Commission also invited Travis Tygart, head of USADA, to speak in front of them and answer questions. The Commission decided though that USADA testing was unnecessary! Look it up, if you really think this is B.S. VADA also would LOVE to work in conjunction with the Commission, but that is not possible because of the Commission itself.

Your alternative is NOT an alternative since the Commission is uninterested in doing all of that. Once they are uninterested in doing all of that, the only alternative left is for the fighters and/or promoters to handle it themselves.
