Pacquiao to fight September in Philippines? [Pac + Arum interview] (VIDEO)

Any Filipinos who can translate what Manny says?

The reporters say Manny is adamant that he wants to fight in the Philippines for his next fight. And he has agreed to move the fight date to September instead.
Strangely this is the same time when he would be officially cleared to fight in the Vegas. Don't know if he might be injured worse than we initially thought. There was a brief story I heard about him going to visit a doctor in China a few weeks ago but no details materialized on that so it was never truly substantiated.

pacquiao would never fight in the Philippines ..... as much as you guys want to pretend pacquiao is some guy that fights for the people or whatever, he is just about as much money as floyd mayweather

pacquiao would never fight in the philippines because he would make nowhere near the money he makes fighting in the united states...... in case you guys dont keep up with world news, close to half the country lives below the poverty line over there, who's going to afford the tickets???? who's going to buy a ppv over there??

point is, unless pacquiao is getting some huge money upfront ( im talking 20-30 mil) he aint fighting over there

It's true that the money would be negligible on the gate but he'd still make near the same amount for the HBO PPV and other worldwide broadcasting networks. Remember that the vast majority of the money comes from TV, not from the arena. Pacquiao probably gets a few hundred thousand from his Las Vegas gates at best after he receives his cut.

I'd definately fly over to the Phils to watch the fight, cheaper than flying to vegas for me. I also think you're underestimating the the rest of rich Asia flying in to watch.

Sometimes the government subsidizes a fight, which could make up for the difference. I doubt it'll it work for the Philippines though.

There an interesting video here on boxingscene with Bob Arum talking about having a Pac fight in Macau. The time zone difference wouldn't matter because they could have the fight at any time in Macau because gamblers don't care apparently. He mentioned that when UFC came to Macau, ******** revenue that day increased by $30 million (can't remember the exact figure) more than normal. The problem with having a fight there though is that it's harder to promote a fight in the US if it doesn't take place there. Thus PPV buys in the US suffer.

All he said is he wanted it easier for his countrymen to watch him fight. That way they don't have to fly to Vegas all the time.
