When did he cross over and why?

Oscar De La Hoya was a big part of it (the reason oscar is still his boss today), Oscar gave mayweather the biggest stage possible for mayweather to debut his "Money" persona so was it his ignorant and ****** attitude that propelled him to the next level? or just his pure boxing skill? because he was always a great talent before De La Hoya but he couldent sell tickets and was referred by the masses as boring.

We just have to look at andre ward who is just as skilled as Mayweather but he is not even remotely in the same ball park as mayweather Popularity wise, is that due to Ward reluctance to sellout his image to appeal to the masses by acting ******? and if so had mayweather not sellout to portray his ****** "money may" image will he be just as unpopular as andre ward?

Khan was given two opportunities to put himself at the front of the line for a Mayweather fight. He fought Peterson and lost but after the drug bust he was given a reprieve, all he had to do was beat Danny Garcia. He got knocked the fuck out.

If he won those two fights he would be looking at a Mayweather fight.
