    Champ or Attraction?

Who should get paid more the champ or the current attraction in the sport for example, pacquaio and hatton aren't world champs, but they are some of the main attractions to the sports right now...So who should get paid more and dictate the terms of the fight?

i think the Champ. Only because he is the champ and whether people think it or not, the best in the world. That is what being the champ signifies.

Boxing is part business...so I say whoever can fill those seats deserves the money they earn.

It really defends, I guess. Remember that not all champ deserve the title. It either mean that they're not good or good but someone else deserve it.

If it's a mandatory, and it is the challenger who wants to enforce it, the champ should get more - it doesn't matter how much of a draw the challenger is, he'll get the chance to earn the higher percent if he becomes champ. Of course promotors/fighters should be allowed to negotiate a higher percent for the challenger if they want to entice a popular fighter who will attract the cash.

            Depends for certian situations.

A guy like Gatti is a bigger draw than Tszyu, but if they fight there is no way Gatti should get more money.

But usually its the atraction that gets paid the most.

case in point DLH - Hopkins, who got the money, who the fans come to see and who made the fight ... its all business

I do agree that the champion deserves a big purse but would that champ earn the same purse if he will fight another guy ???

PAC-EM, both of them are hot but EM is hotter so he is asking for 3M, and i think HBO and Top Rank will gladly give it to him, what you think guys ???

And remember that not all viewers are real boxing fans. On the DLH-Hopkins bout, they paid to see DLH. But we mostly came to see Hopkins (or didn't came at all for $60 LOL).

Morales has proven his drawing power in the past doing very good numbers headlining PPV's.

                  So he gets the money.

People are still not sure about Pac. So far the Asain comunity has not come out in big numbers to suport him.

DLH/Hopkins is the second highest selling non Heavyweight PPV of all time with over 1 million buys.

                    2nd only to DLH/Trinidad
