Featherweight contender Luis Franco has denied that he retired from boxing. Franco (11-1, 7KOs), 31-years-old, was going to face IBF champion Billy Dib in an ESPN televised main event on March 8th at the Foxwoods Hotel and Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

BoxingScene.com recently reported that Franco withdrew from the contest after being unhappy with the money. The boxer's co-promoter, Richard Dobal, told BoxingScene that Franco refused to sign the contract and told his manager Henry Foster that he planned to retire. He was later replaced by Evgeny Gradovich.

sorry Franco, but a "world title fight" is worth exactly what a tv network is willing to pay for it, and not 1 penny more.

I have no idea what's really going on with Franco's case, but it's far from the first time a promoter tries to take advantage of their fighter. It does seem strange the way everything went down. However, assuming Luis does have a legitimate beef, it was probably not a good idea to refuse the Dib fight the way he did. Franco might've really shot himself in the foot with his actions. I hope Luis recovers, but you never know if he'll ever get a crack at a title ever again.

Glad he pulled out of the fight to be honest sounds like he was already beat before even lacing up.some times you need to take the risk to get the reward?what I mean is I remember a little while ago a little known guy from Australia called Danny green went to Germany to fight the then WBC champ Markus Beyer for around $40,000 (so I have been told)lets face it people train years to get this sought of chance and for the money Danny received for the fight it was really crappy money but through this fight Danny really made a name for himself on how he fought that night and well let's say no more small pay days there after $$$$.and lots of other fighters have had to do it this way.luis Franco may never get that shot at the title again?

No doubt man, and he was set up against the most beatable beltholder, probably the only one he has a chance against. And even if he loses, his name is worth more as a former title challenger
