I think I'll disagree with that (mind you, the three judges didn't). If one guy's edging a round for 2 minutes and 45 seconds, and the other guy decides to throw punches when the bell's about to sound, I can't honestly say he's won the "round".

My favourite (favorite, Fat Yanks) Jim Watt moment was on some small card with a couple of low level Green Teefs I hadn't seen before. Both were fighting on even terms, with pretty much jack **** happening. But when Jim Watt has a fixed idea of what's going to happen in a fight (often before the first bell has even sounded) he refuses to break away from that mindset, and insists that what's taking place in his head is taking place in reality.

So in a even-as-even-can-be round he insists the guy who is even slightly edging it is miles behind. "Ah canne believe this wee fellow, there's na confidance in his wurk, and there's nae snap in his punches."

Suddenly the guy who Jim insists his losing lands a punch that makes the other guy's legs buckle, forcing Jim to do a quick U Turn and pretend that it's a fight changing action. "Och, and this is betta!"

you can easily deal more damage in 15 seconds than bute was doing in those rounds. it's not like bute was putting consistent leather on him.

in reality, pascal would work for about 30-45 seconds, and it was definitely doing more damage than bute was doing in the balance of the rounds.

But the severe lack of output was making rounds a lot closer than they needed to be, no?

When pascal was doing nothing, so was bute.

Shit fight, they can't do much right, boxing wise, in canada can they?

agreed. they were closer than they needed to be, but they were still clear pascal rounds for the most part. i don't think pascal has a choice. his style necessitates the breaks.

he needs to work very hard to throw hard punches in combination, and requires a rest before and after. he doesn't have the kind of organic power that a true puncher has. bute, for example, can hurt you without even trying.
