funny shit. GBP is practically begging top rank and offering them chump change. no way arum works with golden boy after they humiliated him during the fallout of the pacquiao - mayweather negotiations. arum may be stubborn but at least he was sincere enough to work with GBP, golden boy wasn't. suffer the consequences

No. It was Arum who was offering chump change according to Frank Espinoza.

GBP at least stepped up with a $3 million offer.

Meanwhile we miss out on great fights because people like you stick up for Bob Arum just because his name is closely associated with Pacquiao's.

You think it's funny **** that the two major promotional companies in the sport, can't do business with each other. That's a whole new level of ******.

It's like you can't even pretend to be a fan of boxing.

Because I think Rigondeaux stylistically presents a helluva lot more problems for Donaire than Mares would.
Arum has made many mistakes but that is part of the business. You win some, you lose some. Arum is a big boy and can handle it.

Donaire vs Rigondeaux is a fight that most here wanted. It's boxing so anything can happen and Doniare may lose. Of course, it depends on how you lose but its only Floyd fans that make a loss look like its the end of the world. Many greats and not so great have lost. Many then still went on to fight good and great fights after that. Again, a loss is just a loss in many cases.

Look at Gatti for example. Did people care if he lost in his previous match? No because they knew that he would still entertain them in the next match and may pull another come from behind win.

Of course, it's a case by case situation but by now, Donaire's record should hold up even if he loses his next fight.

                Agreed.

There are very few 'straight' boxing promoters and Schaefer and Arum certainly don't fall into that category. They're both shifty as hell and anyone taking either side on this one needs their head checked.

Golden Boy is full of s.h it on this one. the $3 million was never a serious offer. it was all show. really what network is going pay 4-5 million + for a junior featherweight fight? take into account Mares purse because you know he won't be fighting for free.

if anybody thinks Golden Boy will take a loss to make a fight is a nuthugger.

Arum tried to make the fight. he offered an amount to GBP for Mares and GBP agreed to whatever it was as long as Arum let Golden Boy promote Matthysse vs Rios. Arum refused

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has made a proposal to Bob Arum, the CEO of Top Rank. Golden Boy is interested in matching WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares against WBO king Nonito Donaire, who Top Rank promotes. Arum is open to doing the fight, but only if Top Rank handles the entire promotion. Arum recently BoxingScene's Luis Sandoval that Top Rank has no interest in doing a straight co-promotion with Golden Boy. They are willing, however, to pay Golden Boy a fee for the services of Mares.

later Schaefer said Arum gave him a low ball offer, strangly enough it wasn't too low because he accepted it as long as he could promote Matthysse vs Rios.

Schaefer BS grandstanding will sway some but anybody who pays attention to the sport knows he's just as big a liar as Arum. the only difference is Arum knows he's a liar and Schaefer pretends he's a saint.

When Lou DiBella and Richard Schafer explode, Bob Arum is left just like his overhyped fighters did Mike Jones and Manny Pacquiao. Knocked out on the floor like the crappy promoter that he is. He stays getting sonned by DiBella and Schaefer, they are his parents.

Most people have caught on Bob Arum is
no different than Don King. He burned De La Hoya
back in the day which fueled the creation of
Golden Boy. I strongly believe he was behind
the Bradley Pacman decision scam and i think
Pacman and many insiders know it.
The guy is a piece of ****.
