Martinez is a counter puncher, he needs his opponentsto engage him so he can counter their shots. He keeps his hands low so that his opponents are more willing to engage/lead.

Look what happened when he fought Barker who held a tight guard and waited, Sergio seemed lost.

Lots of reasons to do it, not everybody does it for the same. Floyd does it to protect his body. Froch/Prince Naseem are/were always trying to bait you to throw. Nate Campbell does it to throw punches from unconventional angles. Jermain Taylor does it purely out of laziness.

When Prince Naseem was clearly losing against barrea his style remained the same hands down....

So I'm just wondering is there any good things about fighting with your hands down? I know u can relax more but do you get better angles with ur punches? I don't know.

I know Pretty Boy Floyd fights with his hands down sometimes with that head pull method to seduce his opponents with. But he mostly has his hands up or at least in his philly shell.
They fight with their hands down because they're looking for a counter when a person throws a punch to their opening only to counter the person

              Had to grimace. Ewwwww.

But then again my roomates used to do the grimace in college whenever they saw me drinking malta. Or they'd question my dunking toasted bread and butter in chocolate or something and say it was nasty and finish of their claim by chewing on a donut recently dunked in wate.. I mean dunking donuts coffee.

Prince Naseem Hamed = GOAT showmanship

Because SRL wanted to be cool and copy Roy Jones Jr who copied Sergio Martinez who we all know is cool!

Hands down, it's the thing to do when you're cool!

Like people said, it's a comfort thing. I don't keep my hands as low as them but I keep them lower than I should. They tried to fix it and didn't work. Not a good thing, it might come back to bite you in the ass or it might not.
