Comments Thread For: Ricky Hatton: Rabchenko on The Verge of a Title Shot

Sergey Rabchenko is quickly closing in on a world title shot, but cannot afford to overlook his next task according to trainer Ricky Hatton.

The unbeaten Belarusian, 26, will make the second defence of his European light-middleweight crown against Italian champion Adriano Nicchi in Monte Carlo on March 30.

And the Hitman believes it's a challenge his charge has to be fully focused on or a potential showdown with WBC kingpin Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez can be kissed goodbye.

"Sergey can see that world title on the horizon now, but isn't ready just yet so needs to continue to impress again in Monaco," Hatton said.

Wow, I didn't know Rabchenko was fighting on the upcoming GGG card. Great news! This card is going to be fun, can't wait.

Looking forward to seeing Rabchenko get a title shot also, kid is legit.

Rabchen"KO" should without doubt be WBC #1 contender. However the World wants Canelo/Trout, which should take place 1st!

This kid has alot of talent and is definitely one for the future - but Hatton should know that alot of British Fighters fail at world titles because they may be convincing at European level but they need experience at world level because we all know Alvarez is world class and above all in this divsion, no-one comes close to him and the only people capable of testing him is Champions in aother division around him i.e Mayweather/ Martinez - and if Hatton throws Rabchenko from European level to the Alvarez fight it will be a big mistake as a a loss could dent his confidence or if the ko is davastating end his career- he needs to fight a Top American in the Top 15 before that.

The GGG card is a perfect fit for Rabchenko. Time will tell if he has the goods on the world class level.
