Comments Thread For: Erislandy Lara vs. Emanuele Della Rosa WBC Eliminator

The World Boxing Council has advised BoxingScene.com that WBC International champion Emanuele Della Rosa (31-1, 8KOs) will be the opponent for Erislandy Lara in a final junior middleweight eliminator. Della Rosa lost in 2009, by split decision, to middleweight Sebastian Zbik.

Lara (17-1-2, 11KOs) faced Vanes Marirosyan in a final eliminator last November. They went to a nine round technical decision draw after Vanes suffered cut above his left eye from an accidental clash of heads. The WBC ordered them to fight again, but Vanes took a pass with no written contract clause for the winner to get a guaranteed shot at WBC champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

I really have no idea who this guy is but he's not even top 10 so that's how you know this whole eliminator thing is b.s. from the WBC.

The use of a instead of the in "final eliminator" kind of worries me.

This article claims Vanes pulled out cause there wasn't any contract for the winner to face Canelo but according to Vanes he needed time for his cut to heal.

Well , better this and stay busy than be inactive as **** I guess. Not sure what GB plans to do with Lara.

Only 8 ko's for Della Rosa, Lara should look impressive against him then.

Lara is biding his time and jumping through the hoops that he has to. Eventually his patience will pay off because they'll have to give him that title shot.

Vanes' career on the other hand is going nowhere.

yeah, i doubt the wbc and gbp enfore lara on alvarez if this fights happens. they'll probably put another "eliminator" in front of lara while alvarez fights someone else.

I see he's #3 and I know Rabchenko is caught up with another fight. Lara vs Angulo would be much better. And we know DeCubas doesn't want the Molina rematch either.
