further adds to the point that this whole fiasco is a publicity stunt to 1) protect mares and 2) make top rank and donaire be the bad guys....

they send out a bogus contract to all these media outlets and make all this noise about wanting to make a fight and to say they tried...

and how convenient that mares is now moving so abruptly to 126...i guess gbp tried to make the donaire fight, so lets just abandon the division and go to 126...it's not like there's no unfinished business at 122.

It's pretty obvious at this stage, a blatant publicity stunt, but one that was moderately effective because of the prevailing anti-Top Rank narrative in certain sections of the boxing public.

I don't particularly like Top Rank either but Golden Boy have clearly conjured up some horseshit here, and they've got a lot of people to swallow it.

Long term you can't imagine stunts of this nature are going to increase the likelihood of the two sides doing business.

Rigo. Who could easily pull the upset if Donaire can't dictate his pace. Rigo wins a technical fight. but if donaire could make it a slugfest he has a chance.
