    Not heavyweight champion.

If we apply the same standard to Holmes as you apply to Vitali, he was just a paper beltholder, like you say Vitali is, remember?

        • Is there anyone up-and-coming that can actually beat Wlad?

Or are we just gonna keep getting match-ups like this for the next 4-5 years?

There's no one on the horizon that I can see beating Wlad anytime soon. I thought that David Price might be able to give Wlad a run for his money, but that was before the Tony Thompson fiasco. I think the only contender that might give Wlad some problems is Kubrat Pulev, and even then, I think Wlad beats him convincingly.

I'd like to see Wlad match up against Fury or Pulev.

Povetkin gets squashed by Wlad, he's all wrong for him. Other than those two, no one is really knocking on the door. Wilder down the line maybe or a Haye rematch. Everyone else would be easy work.

Yeah, I think both Fury and Pulev could pose problems to Wlad. With Pulev; he’s a solid counterpuncher, good all-around boxer, has decent speed and has faced good opposition. I think his size and relative lack of punching power though, will limit him in this fight and allow Klitschko to exploit. On paper this seems like a pretty interesting matchup.
With Fury, I see a fun fight (while it lasts) where there could be tense moments for Wlad. Fury is about the same size as Wlad’s last opponent Marius Wach but he has much more skill and depth to his game. His chin is suspect though and he’s a huge KO just waiting to happen.

                  • Both guys look in incredible shape; especially Wlad. All the complaints (somewhat warranted) regarding Pianeta as a worthy opponent notwithstanding, I'm pumped for this fight!...

Yeah, but we're talking about Pianeta. An all but unranked, sparring partner without a single title challenge, title eliminator or anything resembling a top win. Holmes was a long time champion at a time when only two titles existed. Big difference. It was a unification fight for the lineal title.
