I think Dirrel had the beating of Froch if he followed through the gamplan. He appeared to have more natural talent and better skills but I dont think tis was a robbery and I agree with the decision that Carl retained his title in a close ish fight.

Bottom line is that Dirrel couldnt pull it off and history is littered with examples where the less naturally talented fighter won either on heart, grit, passion or desrire. All qualities Dirrell didnt show.

Interesting that most people on here accepted the decision, despite scoring it for Dirrell.

Can't help but agree with those who said Dirrell's tactics were wrong. IMO, if you're coming to fight a champ in his backyard, you need to be the aggressor throughout or CLEARLY dominate on the back foot.

For me, it was close. Froch was missing wildly, and Dirrell was picking him off with some clean counterpunches; but fighting on the back foot and leaping onto the canvas certainly didn't help Dirrell's cause.

8-4 Dirrell. I thought it was a robbery, but when someone spoils like Dirrell, its not hard to see the problem people have scoring a fight for them. I don't agree with it, but I understand.

All I remember is Dirrell looked terrified. I think I had Froch up by a couple.

I think Barry McGuigan said it perfectly.

"Froch moaned about Dirrell’s negativity. It is for him to find a way around that. He didn’t do that on my card.

If Froch was unhappy with Dirrell’s boxing style, he should have found a way to defeat rather than resorting to fouling. I didn’t see any plan B from Froch, aside from the fouling that he started in the 5th round. Normally, that kind of thing would have been nipped in the bud right there by an assertive referee."

I had it a draw, if I remember correctly.

I had Dirrell just winning, but his running and falling to the floor to avoid punches cost him the fight. His boxing and moving was great at times, but turned into pure running along the way.

With that being said, the result didn't surprise or upset me.

I had Dirrell winning,it was close but clear imo,his running and holding didn't do him any favours but Froch employed plenty of dirty tactics too and was hitting air for most of the night,it was a bad hometown decision

Don't remember my scorecard but I remember thinking Dirrell has won this quite comfortably. That was my thinking/feeling as they went to the scorecards and I was convinced that Dirrell was going to get the decision and to be honest I don't think anyone could have complained.

That said, I haven't seen the fight since the time it happened and I doubt I could stomach watching another 12 rounds of that.
