Besides the Burgos vs Martinez fight, can you name some recent/semi recent fights where the body puncher was robbed? Seems like alot of judges tend to favor the guy that punches the sweat off their opponents head and not the damaging body shots.
Do body punches go un-noticed by judges?

Sadly it does, a clean shot to the face that snaps their head back scores more points then an equally powerful shot to the body which can be disguised by an oppenents poker face. -
They don't totally go uncounted but think about it realistically, sitting there from ringside what is easier to see a guy digging to the body or a guy snapping the other guys head back. In reality is it easy to miss body punches based on the angle you watch while it is much easier to tell when someone connects to the head.Comment

I don't think they go completely unnoticed by the judges, but they definitely take a backseat to head shots. Fights between two body-punching, inside-fighters are notoriously hard to judge. The headhunter has the advantage of having his blows appear clearer, not to mention more impressive. I think that, in years past, body-punching was better appreciated.Comment

Its been this way since the early 70s! A new generation of judges came in then and many were from the amatuer ranks were body punching goes unrewarded to this day! It is the foundation to breaking down your opponent to be able to capitalize in the latter rounds! Certainly one of the biggest mistakes made in judging a bout! RayComment
