[VIDEO] Vitali Klitschko Knocked out by Pele Reid

In case anyone wants to know here, that's a light contact fight and Pele used a full contact kick. It's the equivalent of agreeing to some light sparring then punching your opponent full force. Spinning kicks aren't illegal since those fights are all about "form" aka looking pretty and few kicks do that better, even though the momentum generated can knock someone out. It was basically a legal sucker punch in a soft contact sport.Last edited by croz; 01-26-2013, 02:11 PM.

It is said William van Roosmalen KO'd Vitali as well.
Robin "Pokerface" van Roosmalen is a Dutch welterweight kickboxer, fighting out of Den Bosch, Netherlands. Van Roosmalen trains at Fight Club Den Bosch under his father William van Roosmalen, the only man to knock Vitali Klitschko out, and William Beekwilder.

Yes, it's true. I'm the one who made Robin's wiki-page. There's a Dutch article floating around on the internet about the fight. I once asked William about it and he told me that Klitschko was handily winning the fight. William had already broken a few ribs, got an 8-count and couldn't see out of one of his eyes. He knocked him out with a high kick.

Kickboxers have insane ability to overcome even the most brutal KO losses though. I wouldn't be surprised if Vitali got starched like that on 3 other occasions and still came back to what he did later on.
Badr Hari for one got KTFO in one of his first fight with the same kick, and then another one in like 2004. The latter was so brutal his jaw was broken in 2 or 3 places and he was out for minutes. Still came back to the top of the sport years later with no effects of the KO losses.

The Dutch article is saying Wladimir was the one who lost, not Vitali.

I just read the whole article. Wladimir Klitschko fought that guy. He was mostly a boxer still and not used to low kicks. He got his legs hammered the whole match and it resulted in him keeping his hands too low. So William threw a right hand followed by a left high kick and knocked Wlad out cold, fell through the ropes and almost onto the ring doctor. Sounds a bit overdramatic to me.
