Ruddock was a damn good heavyweight. He probably just wanted to get out of the buisness because he already had a long career.

Ruddock wasn't that great. He's only really known for giving Tyson all he could handle once and surviving to the final bell in the rematch.

it could be just by chance that he is damn near 40 and had been out of shape for the last 5 or more years not won a big fight in forever... just by chance

I read somewhere that Ruddock had tested positive for Hep and therefore banned from fighting.

Ruddock was a huge John Elway fan and when he wintessed his idol go out on top with consecutive Super Bowl titles Ruddock vowed he would do his best to emulate that fete.

Beating Marcus was absolutely incrediblle and to top it all off it was for the Candadian HW Championship...with Elway being Razor's idol this was his opportunity to be like John Boy and leave the sport on top.

I hope this clear things up for you.
