    Playing possum in boxing

How many boxers in history have really done it and done it successfully? I know it's subjective to the true pain or unsteadiness at the moment but who do you think of?

    I think of Tarver mostly

    Audley Harrison.

Everytime I think we've finally got rid of that S.O.B. he somehow finds a way back.

When you say playing possum do you mean someone who pretends to be hurt and than attacks? or someone who gets hurt and pretends like he isn't but is really hurt?

I know Mexicans are the best at this, when they get hurt they rarely show it, Juan Manuel Marquez when his face was gushing and than last second knockout of Pacquiao, that was a good example of baiting a guy using the playing possum technique, JMM knew Pacman will attack anytime he sees you scared or hurt, he pretended to be really hurt and than Bam hit Manny as he came in wild.

Didn't Roy do it in a fight not too long ago and then he did it again in the same fight & got knocked out?

          Something along those lines?

Ali was playing Possum? He was hurting real bad and had no idea what to do and lucked out when Foreman completely gassed. That was not part of his game plan

Ali would just lay on the ropes, let Foreman swing, while popping Foreman with punches in between Foreman's own punches at times. Foreman punched himself out, and Ali capitalized. One of the best knockouts in history and one of the biggest upsets.

Do you mean not hurt at all, but faking at it to gain an advantage or hurt really bad, but not letting on?

He laid on the ropes because he couldnt do anything else. His plan wasnt to get his ass kicked and then KO foreman when he gassed. This is one of the biggest myths in boxing.
