Willie Limond (36-4, 10KOs) destroyed previously undefeated Eddie Doyle (12-1, 2KOs) in the first round to capture the vacant Commonwealth junior welterweight title at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow, Scotland.
Limond came out swinging from the first bell, dropping Doyle with a big combination. Soon after a second knockdown sent Doyle down hard. He was able to beat the count once again, but the referee waved off the fight.
