This is true, both sports select for different skills. It's possible that the vast majority of NFL players wouldn't reach a high level of boxing simply because they don't have the stamina. Something which isn't selected for in the NFL to near the same extent as many other sports.
NFL Players average ONLY 0.19 Miles a game. They got no stamina to box...

great athletes are great athletes.
you can't just switch sports however you want and expect to be good at it, but if you're a great athlete the tools were there for you to excel at other sports too if you picked it as a youth.Comment

You guys are forgetting the rigorous 8-10week training camp the players go through. Also playing 18 weeks, with 1-2 off weeks in a season. Use common sense. The top boxers are only fighting twice a year and training camp last no longer than 8 weeks. Most of those guys are not in the best of shape before camp. Also training for 2 different sports. Since guys are discrediting NFL players. Lets take Ward for instance, lets say he wanted to have an NFL tryout. Him being Athlete, i bet his transition would suck. All the boxing condition and knowledge would do nothing for him. I can't even see ward playing special teams. What most of you guys are missing is that these guys are running full speed @ the start of the play.Comment

Yeah man you might want to look up some football training techniques and routines first. As an example, Ray Lewis biked 40 miles a day to lose weight prior to coming into this season. These guys train twice a day for 3 hours a clip doing HIIT for most of that time. They focus on short bursts of speed for the entirety of the game.
Yes they are big, but that doesn't mean **** if you can't box for 12 rounds. That's like saying Usain Bolt could win a marathon and he is stuck in sprinting.
Bench press doesn't mean punching power at all. Frazier couldn't lift weights

Just as they would need to change their training techniques to be successul at boxing, a boxer would need to change their training techniques to have any chance to do a football player's job. It does take a great deal o oxygen to push a 300 pound guys back while he is trying his all run through you.Comment

People just think that with a bigger pool of athletic big guys, chances are higher you can strike gold. That's all. Boxing still gets amazing athletes at the smaller weight classes but people are just sick of the K Bros. people just hate on them so they use that as an excuse. Personally I think nba players are probably better suited for boxing than football players but thats just me.Comment
