I've often admired Steve Smoger's refereeing. There are classic examples of him letting fighters prove their toughness and fans getting great action and drama.
But I think he should have stopped Golovkin-Rosado after or during the 6th round.
He must have known the gap in their amateur careers (350 am fights for GGG; only 11 for Rosado) as well as their pro records. He has reffed the last two Rosado fights and should have sensed quickly this was a mismatch. The sixth and seventh rounds likely destroyed any future Rosado has in the sport. He's going back to the construction site.
The Jones-Lebedev fight was also a disgrace. I think Steve Smoger's powers of judgement aren't what they were. He was so slow to realise what was happening in the 7th the HBO commentators could not hide their dismay. If you read this Steve Smoger: lift your game or else get out.
