According to record books, Jones lost the first two international fights had at 156,
Irishman Reid in Sept 1986 in Ireland and German Liebing in June 1987 in Cuba.

    - J. Reid (IRL) pts 09.86
    - A. Liebing (DDR) pts 06.87

I can only assume that that is John Reid and Andy Liebing. Reid was an international, but lost to Steve Collins in the final of the 1986 Irish ABA 165 championships before beating Jones Jr a few weeks later at 156 (I don't think he turned pro), and Liebing wasn't exactly a very good pro.

Jones Jr recovered though by winning the 1987 Golden Gloves, at 156, and giving Gerald McClellan a run for his money the following year.

good morning all. stevie always beleved roy jones feared him for what ever reason, maybe it was a mental thing on roy jones's part because he knew stevie had seen him beaten in the flesh in 86. i know stevie was talking about a roy jones fight right after jones beat bernard hopkins, stevie was the ibf's number one contender but roy jones would not fight him. any more q's just fire away

        I thought JuyJuy was banned?

He's obviously one, maybe two of the accounts posting in this thread.

Steve Collins is off his head. He thinks beating Eubank and Benn late in their careers makes him fantastic. The truth is both were finished when they met him. Benn had everything taken out with him in his war (and in my opinion greatest fight of all time) with Gerald Mclellan, and Eubank was as I said, finished. Collins is a **** he keeps on saying about all these great fighters that he would have beat but he made no real effort to fight them. Roy Jones would have murdered him, wheneve I see video of Collins fighting I'm astonished at how poor he looks. The guy built his entire career on beating two washed up fighters. At least Jones fought a load of washed up fighters and Hopkins, Toney and Ruiz. Roy Jones KO 5.

What kills me is that people actually ntertain this sort of ****** rap about Roy not taking on challengers. If he had beaten Collins then people would have been calling hima bum too. I don't care what anyone says. some may call it courageous to go overseas as a champion and expect a fair decision but I call it foolish overconfidence. I never did blame Roy for not going to Germany to fight Mickhaelshevski who wwe all know was not in his class anyway. the same thing goes for I believe a proposed Collins fight in 94 in Europe.

Collins would of been more than willing to fight Jones Jr in America (seeing as he did fight the first half of his career in America), he'd fight Jones Jr on the moon if that's all he could get.

But, Collins was a class below the likes of Eubank, Benn, McClellan, Parks and Nunn, and I believe would of been humilated by Jones Jr.

Most of Benn's fights had been wars, and he was supposedly washed up before he fought McClellan because he looked so lacklustre against Giminez. But that McClellan fight was basically one last big effort from Benn that finished him off!

As far as Eubank is concerned, he was ofcourse the most controversial and inconsistent fighter around post-Watson. The guy was mentally fragile to begin with FFS, he wasn't commited to the sport after that fight. He was only in it for the money, his heart wasn't in the game post-Watson. And in any case, Eubank was robbed at Millstreet.
