GL: What's good James? "You know what's good. I'm ready to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. And it all starts when I knock Hasim Rahman out on March 18. As for the rest of these chumps out there, I mean Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins on PPV that's BS. They should call that pay-for fools because only fools are going to pay for it. They're cheating the fans and they're cheating themselves. One thing's for sure, Roy never gave me a rematch and everyone who reads ********** knows Bernard was bluffing when he called me out. I love Roy in the fight though, I think he's going to beat Bernard again. I can't call this man a great fighter when all he does is throw a right hand with his head down and then hold and hit."
GL: So you like Roy even though he's been stopped in two of his last three?
James Toney: "Bernard has to show me more than running in with his head down and holding and hitting."
GL: What do you think about Shane Mosley-Fernando Vargas?
James Toney: "That's going to be a great fight right there. It's going to be an early mariachi parade and I think it's a toss up but Fernando should win the fight. I like Shane and I love both of them and they're both my boys so may the best man win."
GL: I think it's going to be a great fight too. A lot of people are expecting it to be pretty exciting even though both guys best days are behind him.
James Toney: "They're both going to try their hardest I'm telling you. Me personally, people thought I was through a few years ago and look at me now. None of those guys are through, this is still the beginning for them. I think with their talent level either one of them could dominate the junior middleweight division. Oscar De La Hoya and Ricardo Mayorga is a joke."
GL: I know you're cool with Manny Pacquiao, who is also trained by Freddie Roach...
James Toney: (cutting in) "And he's going to take care of business. He's going to send that Mexican packing with a bunch of beans."
GL: Morales clearly won the first fight...
James Toney: (cutting in) "Yeah he won the fight, but Pacquiao had the wrong gloves...well to me gloves are gloves, but I think he's going to knock Morales out this time. He had Morales a little woozy last time."
GL: Last time you came on the record you made it clear that you like Mayweather over Judah, are you sticking to that?
James Toney: "For sure. Zab is my boy, but Floyd is going to slap that ass. Daniel Judah was in camp with me and I beat him down every day. Everybody says Zab is like a young Mike Tyson with the way I fights, but I'm telling you he better tune down all that wildness if he's going to beat Floyd. He can't be going in there all wild and if he does that he's going to get knocked out.
"As far as Hasim Rahman's ass, just show up on March 18 because all that talking don't mean jack."
GL: If you're successful against Rahman will you look to make one title fight after the other?
James Toney: "First things first, I got to deal with Hasim Rahman, and if he's a man like he says he is, don't run. I'm not going to run I'm going to be right there in front of him beating his ass. I could take what he got, let's see if he could take it because I have a whole of **** to unleash on his ass.
GL: What do you expect to weigh come March 18?
James Toney: "Like 218 when I fought Holyfield."
GL: Do you regret taking the Ruiz fight prior to your medication leaving your system?
James Toney: "I should have done things differently, but I can't turn back the hands of time you know what I'm saying? I screwed up. I went against the doctor's orders only because I knew I would beat Ruiz and I beat him with one hand because I couldn't even use my left hand the way I normally do. I didn't have the mobility back. I beat this guy easy with one arm and Rahman struggled with him.
"I have the best boxing ability in the world. Not Roy Jones. He's a good fighter, Roy Jones is a great fighter, but he's not as great as James Toney and y'all should know that by now."
GL: Rock has been at heavyweight his whole career and you've only been here for three fights, however in that short amount of time you've managed to beat two heavyweights he lost to rather easily. Does that make it difficult for you not to get overconfident heading into this fight?
James Toney: "I'm not ****y, I'm very confident. I know I have better skills than he does and better skills than the guys that he lost to. Bar none. Everybody says Holyfield was done when I fought him, well if that's the case how come Chris Byrd or Rahman didn't knock him out? I did. I am the most purest talent in the game today."
GL: Even though Rahman lost to Ruiz and Holyfield do you still view him as a more dangerous fighter than they are?
James Toney: "Let me tell you something, Rahman is an excellent fighter and I'm not taking him lightly at all. I give credit where credit is due, he's been in there with some good fighters. If he had been in there with some patsy's like Chris Byrd then I'd talk **** about him, but he's been in there with some good fighters and he's beaten some of them. That's why I got to go in there and hurt this guy, I don't care. I'm winning by any means necessary and it's not going to distance, I'm going to knock him out for running his (expletive deleted) mouth.
"He says he's a ******. I got mad respect for the Nation Of Islam, but you know what? When one of their guys goes out of line and disrespects me in any kind of way, I got to get him. I got a pork sandwich and some ham for him."
"I don't care who you are or what religion you have if you disrespect me you're going to get it. And before we go I want to talk about that black headed milk dud Antonio Tarver. I heard he wants to step up in the ring with me. If he's got the balls to do it let him bring it. This ain't no Rocky 6 movie, this is for real. And the reason he got the part is because I didn't want it. I'm on to bigger and better things, I don't do boxing parts no more. I'm doing some major action movie parts, like Sin City II.
"And all his talk about asking for half of a Tyson fight, he's very ridiculous and he should be happy if he could get in the 30% range. I was in this spot in Beverly Hills and I just missed him by five minutes...He's lucky. And like I said the only reason he got that part is because I don't do boxing movies no more."
GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
James Toney: "I want everybody out there in ********** to tune in for James Toney. Me and Greg Leon are going to be doing some big things, he got my personal number and we're going to take over them chats again. I'm back and in 2006 I'm not going to disappoint nobody!"
