Did Floyd "retire" in 2007 because he was shook by the 147 division heating up?

No it was a financial decision. He was contemplating a rematch with Oscar and got pissed that he still wasn't given A-side status or at least not to the degree he felt he deserved and decided F this. He changed the narrative.

Try having an 11 year career with 38+ pro fights with 8 Oz. gloves with chronic hand, shoulder and elbow injuries while almost breaking your hand every fight and let's see if you could carry on. Almost all great fighters took breaks in their careers for various reasons and he has done what he had to do at the point, the only fight that made sense at the time was Shane Mosley since Cotto and Margarito were with Bob Arum, but Shane had a touth ache and the fight didn't happen. Shane KOs Margarito and then Floyd fights him, to me that was good enough.

likely been mentioned in this thread before but some of these fighters were with top rank at the time and wasnt floyd still in a court case claiming money back from them? im not sure they could have been made at that point
regardless he faced cotto and sugar shane and won he beat shane after his win vs the mummy margarito and beat cotto at 154 who after the trout fight went on a nice run of wins so he was hardly shot either
i doubt floyd wanted any part of williams and as funny as that margarito video is floyd would have had him chasing shadows for 12 rounds
