Well depends on what he would have done with it. But wins over Cotto and Margarito would've certainly helped. But almost every great fighter misses a few en route to creating their legacy and that is why they are ultimately rated by their resume--who they fought and how they performed.Comment

Dumb thread, TBH.
When Mayweather-Tszyu was at it's best moment to happen, which even Floyd called him out on HBO earlier that year, Tszyu and Mayweather fought in the same exact month vs Hatton and Gatti respectively. Mayweather dominated and destroyed Gatti, Hatton dominated and retired Tszyu. Hatton was not ready for Mayweather however.
Margarito was a TR fighter, Floyd had just left TR chasing for a DLH fight in 2006 because DLH said he will not work with Arum. DLH-Mayweather did not happen in 2006 as it was thought, because DLH wanted to get a belt so he fought Mayorga. In the meantime, Floyd fought WW lineal/Ring champion Carlos Baldomir.
Pacquiao had the chance to make the fight in 2010 but backed away from a 15 day cut off, which he himself had asked for. It was granted to him by Mayweather but he still backed out. Just like he told Martinez to come down to 150, Martinez said okay, but Pacquiao backed out.Comment

Beating two non Hall of Famers like Margarito and Cotto, wouldn't have made his resume substantially better, just slightly better than now. Beating Cotto at 154 was the best win he could have gotten at the time at 154, because Cotto was the #1 ranked fighter. It was also a good fight, but it's not a really big win, and it wouldn't have been a big win even in 2004-2005 when Floyd wanted it in Top Rank, 2007-2008 when people were claiming Floyd was ducking him, or now in 2012. It's one of Floyd top name wins, but it's not one of his biggest win and never would have been no matter when he fought Cotto. Castillo, Corrales, De La Hoya, Marquez, Mosley, and Hatton were all seen as much better fights coming in. I'd also put Hernandez in front of Cotto. Cotto is a better win than Judah, Gatti, Chavez, Ortiz, Baldomir, Corley though and I would rate it as a higher win than Guerrero too.Comment

in Fraud nuthugger world
-Beating a prime undefeated Cotto at 147 doesn't compare to beating a shot Cotto at his worst weight
-Ducking a prime Margarito at WW doesn't mean anything because Fraud beat Baldomir
They actually believe thisComment

kostya - got beat by hatton that floyd beat
margarito - got beat by shane that floyd beat
pacquiao- got beat by jmm that floyd beat
Lol, what do you want him to do ? Fight Kostya and not Hatton ? Haters like you would have said he is ducking Hatton and make 1003434 threads about it. Fight Margarito after he lost instead of Mosley ? Once again haters like you would have made 394802342 threads about how he would duck Mosley ( before he signs the fight people were already saying floyd would never fight Mosley.
Seriously guys, is this a thread to complain about the fact that Floyd is fighting people coming off wins instead of taking the loser ?
no , he should've fought them before they lost...Comment
