    Not saying Cotto can make 150 or 147, but he turned down the fight with Pacquiao since a Floyd fight was an option and didn't have to drop below 154.

    Also, we don't know what else TR put in the fine print for the rematch contract with Pacquiao.

    I always thought that he went up to 154 to stay clear from Pac and Arum at 147.

        He allegedly had trouble making weight at 147 his last 2-3 fights... There were also accounts of his distractions, etc. Take into account how he would fade in some fights then that means he probably wasnt working as hard as he could/should have.. So that could tie into what someone else said...he probably CAN make the weight, but would rather not. At this stage though (as of his last fight) maybe he cant anymore and it would cost too much for him to do so.

            I honestly think he could make 147 with hard work. If he ever decided to make that weight through dieting, training, and time - I could imagine he'd be in tremendous shape. That's only considering that he'd want to venture back into the Welterweight division.

            If he dropped that weight in a short amount of time or just for a fight, though, I couldn't imagine him being anything but a drained shell.

              now that he's making big bucks, he probably is lazy enough now to spend part of his training making weight.

              he looked much much faster in his counters against pac during the early rounds than any of his fights at 154.

                He is done at 147. can he make 147? Sure but he isnt gonna try to cut that weight to make it. I'd say Cotto would go lowest 150 if he fight were right.

                  Man its been four years now since 147. He'd look horrible and probably perform as much. He's in a situation where he's kinda too big for 147 and too small for 154

                    Its time for Cotto to retire! Since fighting the Cheater in 08 his record is;
                    W5 L4 and 2 ko's loses. Thats not exactly a great record when you've done so much better in the past! If your a true fan of a fighter you need to see when its time to retire before the fighter gets into trouble with his mental health. I like Cotto alot, he's done very well for himself and his family. I'd like to see him in ten years as a happy healthy ex-boxer with his thoughts intact and his speech clearly defined! I hope he retires now, safe and content. Ray

                      Cotto has always been unlucky when it comes to weight imo. First he was too big for 140 but too small for 147 ( i think the jump from 140-147 is the toughest one to make, it took floyd a while to even adjust) then he became too big for 147 but way too small for 154. I honestly do not think he could make 147 effectively i think with hard work he could boil down to 151 at the most.
