The only one who can change Chavez is Chavez I mean nacho can help him but his style is much different than what nacho is used to training other fighters jr. Is more of a brawler I think Robert Garcia would be a better fit jr. needs discipline more than anything.

Nacho would make Jr. better. He's getting him after his first real loss too so if he has any sense of pride he'll step up his work ethic in camp. I don't think Chavez respected Roach as much as he'd respect Nacho.

Great trainer but folks are reaching here stating he'll make him better..while yes technically he'll be sound..the kid has to be receptive to what's being taught...you can't change how lazy another person is and the kid just doesn't have the work ethic..silver spooned ppl just don't like hardwork..they don't know anything but leisure.

Calm down Paddy. First, Beristain was coldly dismissive, saying he was no longer "eating dry tortillas". The guy hasn't been poor for at leat the past 40 years. so this was a piece of rubbish. Chavez took his business away and ignored him since, so this is a bargaining ploy, to publicly reach Chavez and to get it back on track

. It is well known that top fighters who command large purses, negotiate with their trainers for a percentage down to as low as 3%. With
Chavez paying all the expenses. not bad for a trainer who has a dozen or two more fighters all training in the same facility. He likely has about $10 mill or more stacked away somewhere. It's just a business move. Why should we be concerned about it?

Slainte go mor agus Dia is Muire agat (Our teacher Mr Cassidy was from somewhere in Connaught so "agat" not "leat". He used to sound it like "huggut" !!

Would it help him? Sure nacho would beef up that defense.

In my opinion, Nacho is the best trainer in boxing today and certainly could help Chavez Jr. However, lack of discipline and a diva attitude aren't things Nacho is gonna put up with even for big$$$$$$

I agree on all points. Nacho is a great trainer but the style he teaches is very far from where Jr is right now. It would take some time to get him up to speed and turn him into a more technical fighter.

Robert Garcia on the other hand seems to do very well at working with brawlers and punchers. He could make some tweaks here and there that would improve Chavez Jr right away IMO.

Of course no one is going to be able to help him much if he doesn't show up on time and become more disciplined.
