Comments Thread For: Perez vs. Forbes Early Results From Sunrise, FL

By Jake Donovan - Johan Perez looks to recover from the first loss of his career as he faces former 130 lb. Stevie Forbes in a 10-round welterweight bout at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Perez hasn't fought since suffering a technical decision loss against Pablo Cano last July. The six-month ring absence still marks a quicker turnaround than that of the 35-year old Forbes, whose points loss to Jessie Vargas last May was his lone action of 2012, and boasting just three wins in his last 11 contests. This was a good card. Forbes fought well. I thought he was shot but this is the best I've seen him look in a while. I had it a draw but have no problem with Perez winning.

I agree 100%. I also had the fight a draw. Forbes fought really well and he actually had lots of energy during the fight.

ok card that I hope gets better but I guess this GBP's east coast version..the one judge, Young, was too generous @ 7-3...FL judges having trouble lately with consistenct in the scoring...last weeks was awful on espn...

I caught bits and pieces cause I was too busy watching the 49ers games but you're right, Forbes looked good compared to before. Either that or Perez just isn't that good (which I think is more of the case).

I watched and Stevie did very well especially at the end. Its not easy for a vet like him to fight these younger guys who usually show more than he does at the end but Stevie did great! I thought he edged the kid and won. The other kid has no style and he obviously drained at 140+2, also very awkward kid. Stevie deserved the fight even though it was close, he had more volumn and landed more too! Good card overall. The judge who had it 7-3 needs a break and needs to be evaluated, 7-3 is impossible watching that bout!! Ray
