OK, so is it born in a city, grew up in a city, or boxed in a city.

I've seen two different places claim Sugar Ray Robinson (who wouldn't) & Chicago claim Andrzej Golata - which is fine as he fought many bouts there.

But is Sugar Ray Robinson Georgia, Detroit or New York?

Can I claim Joe Calzaghe as he was born in London?

Can I not claim Lloyd Honeyghan as he was born in Jamaica (even though he went to school with my brother in law in SE London)?

I don't think SRR and Patterson should count as NY boxers, as much as i'd like them to in this case. Both of them were born in different states and moved to New York in their early childhood, but would that be considered that they're from there? I only mentioned NY born boxers.

I think if you made your name and you live in that area you can claim it as your own as well as the area you are born from.

It's like Micheall Jordan was born in Brooklyn and moved to NC as a youth. So did Carmelo Anthony (moved from Brooklyn to Baltimore). So Jordan gets claimed from Brooklyn and North Carolina.
