Promoter Frank Warren today won the purse bid to stage the European Super-Middleweight title clash between George Groves and Mohamed Ali Ndiaye.

The Hammersmith star was last in action in December with an outstanding performance against Glen Johnson in a defence of his Commonwealth title.

Groves will get home advantage when he challenges for the title - vacated by previous Groves victim James DeGale - against Ndiaye who's never been stopped in 23 fights.

The whole Groves/DeGale career dynamic is fascinating......

.....George wins 'The Big Fight' but then seems to slip back into long spells of inactivity/domestic level scraps with people like Paul Smith or ****** showcase fights on the bottom of US undercards.

...DeGale loses 'The Big Fight' but kicks-on by winning the European title, being far more busy and looking much more like the complete, focussed and hungry professional.

Admittedly, Groves has time on his side and Warren's complete backing and DeGale now needs to crack-on and is working with a smaller, less well-connected promoter like Hennessey.

But there is no escaping the fact that DeGale has beaten the best in Europe and is ready for bigger challenges, whilst George appears to be fighting for DeGale's old title and still learning the game.

Not sure which DeGale you're watching but it can't be the Olympic champion, James DeGale. Needs to learn how to throw a punch, let alone learning a defence.

Groves had a bad '12 with injury but he's easily keeping pace with DeGale and hopefully has a big '13. N'Diaye's not a bad European level opponent, he'll give Groves rounds.

Also, DeGale is getting more exposure being on free-to-air TV. I hope Groves doesn't get messed around like other fighters have under old fish eyes.

End of the day I would prefer to watch Groves go to toe to toe fighting his way through the ranks than watch degale slap shiz for 5 rounds and struggle over the distance.
Don't get me wrong I want both of them to succeeded. I just find groves more exciting
