When I talked to Ice a day before the Ward fight, I mentioned how it was great Chad was spot on at the weigh in and he said that he had nothing to do with the weight loss and that the nutritionist is the guy who handled that, he just trained Chad. But Ice DIRECTLY devised the plan that beat Hopkins and he explained the plan in detail to me and it was impressive what he saw in Hopkins that Chad could capitalize on. So I don't get this turn of events.

Dawson really needs to pick a trainer and stick with him. All these changes are not going to serve him well long term.Comment

Not only that but Floyd Sr called him a ****** (Imagine that, Floyd Sr calling someone a ******), and that he can do more push up's than Dawson.
But what originally split them up was Dawson not agreeing to leave his family out of training camp. Floyd didn't want any family members there and Dawson had a problem with that.Comment

Scully seems like a cool dude and his instructions in the corner during the Ward fight really made me a fan of his. Idk why a lot of these guys switch trainers as soon as they lose. If you had the wrong trainer you would know from day one, I would assume. He didn't seem to be complaining prior to his loss to Ward...Originally posted by richardtWhen I talked to Ice a day before the Ward fight, I mentioned how it was great Chad was spot on at the weigh in and he said that he had nothing to do with the weight loss and that the nutritionist is the guy who handled that, he just trained Chad. In Khan's situation I can understand him switching trainers but I never understood why people like Cotto would leave Steward and Dawson would leave Scully.

Unfortunate too because Dawson would have been a complete fighter under Floyd Sr. Chad thought he can be a great fighter under any trainer, obviously that's not the case. Any boxer that changes teams as many times as Chad will not be the same boxer.

Before he hired Floyd Sr, Dawson already went through 4 different trainers. Brian Clark was Chad's first trainer, than Gaspar Ortega, he hired John Scully in 2004, left Scully due to location problems. He hooked up with Dan Birmingham, he fired him because he thought Dan was too basic. Chad has had a total of 8 different trainers.
This is nothing new for Chad. People are saying Chad should go back to Floyd Sr, but after what Floyd Sr said about him? And Floyd still sounds pissed when someone mentions Chad's name.Last edited by Boxingwizard; 01-09-2013, 10:20 PM.Comment
