Here is our original article, before the HIV news came out. His wife blamed it right away on this blood disorder.

Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym's attempt to win back the WBA super-bantamweight title suffered a knockout blow on Thursday after he failed pre-fight blood tests. The 32-year-old Thai was scheduled to fight unbeaten champion Guillermo Rigondeaux of Cuba in Texas on Friday. Poonsawat failed three blood tests, ending his hopes of regaining the title he lost to North Korea's Ryol Li Lee in Japan in 2010, his handlers said.

The author of that article did NO FACT CHECKING.

Also, people with thalassemia are very high risk for contracting HIV in countries like Thailand, India, Africa due to tainted blood transfusions. Here is one big case that happened a few years back. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/gujarat-2.../183052-3.html

      So why was it posted?

So this is the disorder he had before then he got HIV from blood transfusions?

tested positive 3 times for HIV in texas, but they claim is cause of his disases that he tested positive.

Hey who knows, I aint one to get into someone personal business like that, since this no longer falls under boxing related.

Yeah, figured this might be the case.

I remembered that they already mentioned and blamed thalassemia when he failed the test, so this new "revelation" wouldn't have been new at all.

Sad to see he has to retire, guy was a out and out warrior.. Don't think I'll ever forget the beating he put on Bernard Dunne! If it's true that its only thalassemia and not HIV then thank god. Ad hopefully he eventually fully cures it

That's very good it isn't HIV. I saw some news sites that stated it was as if it were fact, I didn't realize it was a rumor. I need to look more closely at where I get news I guess
