I'm kinda relieved I've not been banned on my first post, from observing this forum for a while it is a bit like a pack of dogs - insiders fight between themselves but u;timately work together, outsiders are at risk of being torn limb from limb.
It isn't that difficult to establish yourelf on here, you'll do fine unless you're an idiot.

The karma and points systems do make it a bit complicated though.

It's well documented how frustrating it was in the late 90s early 2000s for Calzaghe not managing to get the big fights, and it's also well-documented how he hasn't exactly looked after himself in the last few years.

I don't read anything into the fact that Calzaghe hasn't had many big fights other than that he hasn't had many big fights. Like it has been said, Calzaghe should (condition permitting) be Lacy's toughest test, and Lacy WILL be Calzaghe's toughest test, perhaps too big a test in my opinion.

are you his last opponent by any chance?

I'm looking forward to this fight mainly because I want to see Jeff Lacy win. I know Calzaghe is a Brit like me, but he's no longer a prospect, Lacy is the next "big" fighter in my opinion.

True, Lacy is a beast, and he hits very hard. Harder than Calzaghe.

                  And..
Quote from Enzo from todays South Wales Argus: "Jeff (Lacy) has lots of courage for taking on Joe, we respect his guts and bravery. The fight coming up between Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins won't be half as entertaining, those guys are cowards who do not come to fight and don't take challenges. Obviously Jeff is using this fight as a learning curve, he has five years on Joe, he can bounce back from this loss and be even better. He can learn from it and he'll savour the experience, he knows he can't beat Joe but atleast he's going to have a good go. There is certainly no shame in losing to the best fighter in the history of the division, no shame in losing to the guy who will retire as the 45-0 light-heavyweight champion of the world."

And, from yesterdays South Wales Argus:
"He's (Joe Calzaghe) treated like a world-class journeyman. But who has a better resume in boxing today? He's beaten five former world champions in Chris Eubank, Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall, Charles Brewer and Byron Mitchell, and he's not just beaten them he's boxed their ears off or steamrolled them. Who has looked more impressive in title defences than Joe? Nobody. Not Roy Jones. Not Bernard Hopkins. He easily beat David Starie who went on to give Sven Ottke hell. He easily beat Omar Sheika who went on to give Jeff Lacy hell. Where's the justice in the world? He's beaten Mario Veit twice, Veit hasn't lost to anybody else and is still going strong. Now we're beating unbeaten Jeff Lacy in March. What does he have to do? When will he get the respect he deserves, when he's dead?"

                  And, from yesterdays Daily Mirror:
"Joe won't be as big or strong as he has been in the past because it is a struggle to make 12-stone (168) these days. Last time out, he was weighing 175lbs 24 hours before the weigh-in. We needed to do half an hour skipping followed by an hours break and then half an hour skipping again and repeat over and over on the day of the weigh-in, with no food or water intake until after he weighed in. But, we've come this far now that we're certainly not going to stop, over our dead bodies are we going to stop now. It's been 25 years, we've got to go all the way or we'll be wasting 25 years of hard work."

"Joe is wiser than ever, still has enough of his blistering handspeed and knows his way around the ring better than any champion in the boxing game today. He still has some pop in his left hand, and believe me there's more fire in the belly than there ever has been.

"We've been there before, Joe fought for the world title against Eubank and came through in flying colours, Charles Brewer held Lacy's belt and we came through in flying colours, Byron Mitchell. We've done it 17 times, 18 times, and looked as impressive as anything almost every time. We've been knocked down, but we've got up to win. We have far less to worry about than Jeff Lacy."

"Joe's been doing this for so long that he can turn it on like a lightswitch now, we did a short session the day after boxing day and he found his range easier and earlier than ever. All I can say is that we plan on hurting this guy Lacy early and often, we'll be ruthless about it and it'll be strictly business because we've been waiting so long for a big fight like this."

                  "Don't blink, just don't blink."

The difference being, Calzaghe is a recognised boxing champion of the world trained by his father. Known throughout the boxing community. While you are just.....
