I guess he deserve more than what's on the table. But over half a million more than Pacquiao? Probably not. Remember that Pacquiao is probably the main attraction. And after all, this is boxing. Belts sometimes don't mean a lot in terms of money. I think there is some jealousy going on how Pacquiao and Barrera are getting more attention.

It's similar to how Winky wants the same amount as Trinidad because he holds the belt. I mean look at the Hopkins-DLH bout. Hopkins is the champ but he got less money. If I were Marquez and so confident on beating Pac, then he should step up because he'll be making a lot more if he's successful. But from what I understand, it's Marquez who wants more money to begin with, his manager advise to.

JMM doesnt want to work for it. coz he knows his capability of winning against Pacman is just questionable. he can pretty sure get that purse after he beats Pac, MAB and EM. but obviously, he knows he wont be meeting MAB and EM after facing Pacman.

but if i am confident enough in beating Pacman, i'd go for it coz he'll be my way to greatness.

i dont know but it seems like JMM is not interested in settling the unfinished business. he knows he was just lucky to have that draw. that's exactly why he's askin' for too much purse.

yeah he proved that by not taking the fight with jmm for what he was offered. instead he is gonna take the fight with em. if you think its not about the money to him then you are seriously dillusional. if it weren't about the money and it was about the glory he would take the jmm fight no matter what the monetary prize was. but this is the real world and money matters to everyone. i don't blame manny for wanting more money thats for sure.

Juan Manuel Marquez is the one asking for $1.5M before signing any contract. Its very easy to determine who back out of the fight.

True that Juan has the belts, but Manny is the one people want to see. I mean, at least Manny has fought MAB. Who has JMM fought? Lets face it, Juan ain't the most exciting boxer out there. So for him(Beristain)to ask that much money is just big headed. Sure he was able to salvage a draw with Pac but, that's after he got eaten up in the first round. You hear alot of people on tv talking about they survived shark attacks, lions, etc. but doesn't really prove anything except they can survive.

man Pac signed the contract against JMM! there's no way he counld turn back from that. JMM asked for an impossible purse so he wont have to clash against the Punisher Pacman. now, how could i be so dillutional? and how you couldnt be in this case?

He didn't ask Salido to fork that much dough and I'm sure Salido wanted those belts as much as Manny or any challenger does. The simple fact is that he is in no position to demand such a preposterous sum, with or without those belts. It's the rep that brings in the money in this day and age and not the title - sad but true.

Marquez was a nobody fighting under card type opponents all his career and none of the legitimate elite like Manny before they clashed and it's because of that ****** draw - which IMHO opinion Pac deserved to win - that he's sharing some of the limelight right now. Still he doesn't deserve crap and is back to fighting patsies like he normally does because of this latest attempt to duck Manny. Manny earned his share of the purse and is the one being shortchanged, not little miss prima donna Marquez, yet Manny would've taken whatever was offered him just to prove he was the real champ.

Bottomline is if he beat Pac, he could have asked for the moon! So the question is, was he really being ****** or was he just being a chicken?
