There has not been a Lineal Heavyweight Champ for almost 10 years.

    Since Lewis retired.

Wladamir can become Lineal Champ, by starting a new Lineage, but to do so he will have to beat the holder of the WBC Championship, becoming Undisputed champion and creating new lineage.

Sorry state of affairs for heavyweight boxing, Wlad has until Feb 6 2014 to do it, or it will have been over 10 years.

Yes, even though his brother is a dominant, legit WBC champion

No, you can't forge new lineage with another, equally dominant champion knocking about

Shocking that Wlad has never been lineal champ.

Shocking... This is a black blemish on his record.

Lineage was re-established when Wlad defeated Chagaev.

        Nope.

It has to be undisputed, how could he be undisputed when his brother holds a major title and a good 50% think his brother would beat him.

He may have won the Ring title, but that's not the lineal championship, and in recent years has devolved into a piece of nonsense.

The Lineal champion is the undiputed "man" in his division, you can't be that with another legit champion out there.

People talk about the lineal title being the be all and end all of titles now, but even that's degraded to where it's all but useless and a bunch of bull**** too. The simple fact is that no title, Ring, Lineal, WBC, WBA or anything means **** anymore.

Really, the only one that truly means anything now would be having the Undisputed title.

Lineage and undisputed are two different things.

If you believe that lineage is reestablished when a fight between the no.1 and no.2 (sometimes 3) then Wlad became linear champ when beating Chagaev.

If you need to be undisputed to claim lineage then you'll not have any linear champs today.

Going by your standard then who did Tyson beat to become lineal champ?

I don't believe it was actually. I'm pretty certain that Lewis is still the last Undisputed and lineal heavyweight champion.

as you see, Wlad is the lineal champ since beating Chagaev in 2009

Spinks. He became the Undisputed champion, but then became the lineal champ when he beat Spinks, who had beaten Holmes.

Lewis is still considered the last lineal/Undisputed.
