Hagler is one character-- in and outside of boxing-- that's difficult to get a handle on.
He was so mean inside the ring, he had "War" painted on his forehead in at least one of his fights, hit his own bald head at the start of rounds and was vicious and unforgiving when he fought. His pain was all there to see; his personality wounds raw and open. And yet he lived, by and large, a scandal-free life.
He was generally uncommunicative; a smile rarely creased his face. He did not seem frivolous, and yet, he legally changed his name to "Marvelous" and became a movie star in Italy-- a country whose natives are known for communicating extravagantly in words and gestures!
Marvin, or Marvelous, was/is a conflicted man, but is/was a complex individual who is able to deal with his issues well. To me, he was not only a great champ, he was and is a man who's better than most.
I read somewhere that Marvin was a loner growing up, and that he felt only animals could understand him! He loved animals and when he was growing up he spent all of his free time with animals, is this true?
Have you heard that he started boxing in his early teens only because he hated the world so much and needed to let out his aggression?
Also, is it true that as an amateur he always gave his birthdate as 23rd May 1952? But whilst world champion he produced a birth certificate which stated he was born on 23rd May 1954? He apparently lost to Tony Licata at the 1969 Golden Gloves on his 15th birthday (but everybody thought he was 17), he shouldn't of been able to compete in Golden Gloves below 17 but faked his birthdate. Another strange thing to come from that was that Licata had apparently had a prizefight the previous afternoon under the name Tony Gardner, and to make matters even more confusing Licata had fought Tony Gardner at the Golden Gloves the day previous!
I even heard that Marvin himself doesn't truly know when he was born!?
Does anybody else have any more info on any of these matters?
Ask Sugar Ray Leonard. Isn't he Marvins Daddy?? LOL LOL LOL

Yeah as opposed to that Gimp G-man who used to torture animals. Now animals are the only thing that can understand that ******:
Marvin Hagler is a good man. He understands that animals give unconsequential love. It's not phony love like some human love. You can tell alot about a person by the way they treat animals. Good hearted people usually love animals and respect others. People who mistreat animals usually hurt humans later on.. Thats why I take great pride that that POS Gerald McClelan ****s in diapers now. At least he wont be able to tie any more animals up while his pitbulls ravage them, or run over a family of geese. Thank You Nigel Benn not only did you save alot of animal lives and suffering, its very possible you saved a few human lives in the future.. Good Job!!
Gman is Gerald Mclellan, former middleweight champ. The guy in my sig. I think he's an awesome boxer, **** person though (he was very cruel to animals).
