Bernard Hopkins' views on Roy Jones rematch before the fight was signed

I timed it. Starts at 4:07

This still gets a chuckle out of me. B-Hop's pre-fight views and when the fight against Jones was signed.

Wow. Even he thougt it was a waste of everyone's time. And very articulatley explained why too. Wonder what made him change his mind because the fight did not do well monetarily, as he predicted.

You're right. I still liked the move.

Maybe he just wanted to kick hiss ass and even it out for personal reasons, and whatever money he made then that's what he made.

Wow what a nice find. Hops is the man and even he knew this was just a money fight. Like Hearns/Leonard II

Too bad he didnt want it when Jones was prime

I'm pretty sure that Hopkins moved on with the rematch solely for personal reasons.

Surely he knew in his heart that the fight was guaranteed to be total ****, but that professional beef he has had with Roy his entire career was most likely the motivating factor for his decision to go ahead with it.

The money and lack of real threat couldn't have hurt, either.

think hopkins resented jones, being in the driver's seat when they were at their peak, and the rematch was hot and on the table...ego thing no doubt...like somebody said, would have been nice to have had that rematch happen around 2002
