Is this description of how Floyd sees his fans true?

No doubt, but you can see some fighters genuinely appreciate and are humbled by the support they receive, they're the types of characters you would support whereas others just don't care past the money you put in their pocket, salesmen and snakes. We all know fighters that fall into both brackets.

I doubt it can be genuine, how could somebody genuinely apprecciate a horde of unknown people?.
It's about marketing, and to an extent a nice ego stroke.

You think a clerk at a ***el shop is so very nice because he is really happy to see a client, or because he'd get his ass fired if he said what he really thinks ?.

Nobody would care about Floyd (or any other fighter) if he wasn't that good in the ring.

As for us fans, as much as I dislike the idea, we are nothing more and nothing less than potential "consumers" of a certain product.

well there's always little things like personally flying out fans to his fights that get tattoos of him on their body (i think he's done this once or twice) and the smaller things like that.

the thing some people are starting to realize is that when he makes videos of himself flashing his money, they look at that and think "hey, that's my money" and i think they are finding it offensive to see their ppv money being flashed back in their faces. that's his shtick though so i guess he's gotta stick to it.
