Why Trout? Because he beat Cotto? Floyd was the one that beat Cotto just before Cotto fought Trout. Why not Floyd?

I still want to see this, if only for the opportunity to enhance one mans legacy. You have every component required to build an overnight classic. Canelo's D is shoddy compared to Trout, he has only his power and size to rely on. Cotto isn't done yet. He can still give us some great fights. Trout certainly deserved the opportunity to fight Canelo but stylistically it's not the matchup people want. If Canelo wins he can say he's on an equal playing field because they've both beaten a common opponent, a wily veteran like Cotto.
