Why should Floyd be considered the #1 guy at welterweight? All he has is the very competitive win against Cotto where he got his nose crushed. Meanwhile, Trout has back-to-back wins against then top 10 JMWs in Cotto (who he beat more easily than Floyd did) and Delvin Rodriguez. Meanwhile what has Canelo done to be ranked #2 (even above Trout)? The RING/Golden Boy 154 pound rankings are crap and we all know why.
COTTO LANDED WAY MORE PUNCHES AGAINST TROUT THAN HE DID AGAINST FLOYD... BOTH FIGHTS WERE CLOSE AND HIGHLY COMPETETIVE...
A lot of these socalled "fans" are absolutely de****able. They have absolutely no respect. This exactly why I don't blame Mayweather in the least bit for turning into "Money Mayweather" after DLH. F the fans, get money.
Man I swear its to the point that Ive seen Mayweather fans afraid post what they really feel. Its an unwritten rule to avoid his name in conversations about ATG's and fantasy matches. Im with you. I'll take "Money" over "Pretty Boy" any day. They ****ted on him when he was nice so he might as well cut up on 'em now. He wont be respected as a fighter until they see him broke down. He's easier on them than I would be. ***em.

Think about it though man, "they" didn't love Ali until he was all the way broken down. It's sad when you really think about it.

I've made that same statement many times and I never get a response. That's truth enough I guess. I've always said when you're black young and talented its important that you just shut up and do your job. When you have the audacity to have an opinion you get black balled, for lack of a better analogy. Lol. Its a touchy subject but a necessary subject.
Yes he should always take the fight that makes the most money. More times than not the most lucrative fight is a challenge worth watching. And no I wouldn't stop being a fan because he fights Trout. I would stop being a fan if he fights Trout just to cater to haters. All these Trout discussions go to show one thing I've been trying to prove for years. It doesn't matter who Floyd beats y'all will create a monster in boxing that he's ducking. Other fighters are allowed to close chapters. Maywwather's book is one on going chapter. Until he finds a way to do it with one arm and his eyes closed it won't suffice.
I'd pick Floyd to beat Trout. I'm just saying Trout is a better fight than the Guerrero fight and it is. Cotto vs Trout was a better fight than Cotto vs Kirkland would have been, but it was less lucrative. I'm not hating on Floyd and I'm not saying he's ducking. I'm just saying the reasons you mentioned for Floyd to not fight Trout were garbage IMO. Just because we think Floyd could be beaten by a fighter, he shouldn't cater to us and fight them because "it's catering to the haters".

Do you understand that boxing is a business and not a tough man competition? Floyd is not a full-time 154 pound fighter, he's only going to up to 54 for big money fights. Mayweather-Trout is not a big money fight at this point. He'd make more fighting Guerrero. What's so hard to understand?

I understand all that. But when people say he's cherrypicking for easier big money fights, you essentially are confirming they're right.
So he can come up to fight Canelo at 154, an unproven prospect, but to come up to fight Trout, who beat up and outpointed Cotto, that's not okay? Hyprocrisy at it's finest.

What is bull*****t about the upside (from a business standpoint) to fighting a Mexican fighter around independence day? What it is, is y'all hearing what you wanna hear. I've said more than once that I'd like to see the fight with Trout but its not as important as you make it out to be. Just like the Guerrero fight is no career defining fight. Can you admit that its not the crime of the century, taking on Guerrero. He's obviously the bigger name regardless of ethnicity. No he's not the polished boxer Trout is but its a toss up as to who's the better fighter.
