    Behold He Arises!

For me, being an African American, he's definitely one of the greatest in terms of his status in the world of sports in general. Ali is bigger than boxing in the same way Babe Ruth was and is bigger than baseball. When I was a kid, looking at Ali was looking at an image of a proud man, who didn't just know how to box but he know how to market himself better than other other figure of his time.

To me Ali was power, grace, and pride. As a young man I needed desperately to see a figure that carried himself like Ali did, with a certain majesty if you will. He transcended sport to me because he appealed to my imagination and not just my love of boxing. When a figure can lift you to a certain level simply by being themselves they are truly a transcendent figure.

Truth is, people need heroes. And even if what a hero does seems incredible menial or amazingly lofty, who they are as a complete person resonates and creates a lasting image. Cassius Clay aka Muhammad Ali is simply the greatest sportsman there ever was.

Robinson was better and Greater and if you rank Greb he has a case for being greater even if there's no footage of him fighting

He was the greastest black american athlete in history. From a public figure standpoint. A very good role model. A black american icon.

No you can't be the greatest when a C plus fighter like Ken Norton owned your A$$. I say the Klitchko's are superior to Ali, Holyfield on Roids did better but if you take away his roids and who knows. Lennox Lewis was better than Ali

So being a draft Dodger is a role model most would see it as an act of being a coward

Sometimes I have him on equal footing with Joe Louis, but you do think about how Ali could dance during his prime and his great chin. Ali is the greatest for me.

For me the Heavyweights are the Kings of the Ring, so IMO I couldn't give a welterweight or middleweight or light heavyweight the title of The Greatest. Lets put it this way, a prime Ali beats any other fighter in history, so he's the Greatest.
