[quote=Elvizzz] I would have loved to see Calzaghe rematch Kessler in Denmark, but Calzaghe wanted to play it safe as usual... Instead he gave a rematch to the great Mario Veit!!

Nice to see you are trying to make the fights happen Kessler!! Thx! Another war coming up. Veit became mandatory actually.

Calzaghe was whooping on Kessler after round 5. Kessler couldn't keep up with the pace, and couldn't hurt Joe with anything. You could see it in his face inbetween rounds, he was slowly giving up. Meanwhile Joe looked as fresh in the 11th round as he did in the first. There are a ton of Calzaghe haters in the world of boxing and i still can't understand where it comes from. That man was a great fighter. deal with his undefeated record, and for god's sake don't say Hopkins won that fight, because He ****ing lost.

The reason why he lost, to me, was that he wasnt physically fit enough to last the distance on the night. He was gassing in round 6, if I recall right, despite outboxing Joe, and then got outworked badly. Again, Kessler can only blame himself for his sloppy conditioning.

Credit to him for giving Froch a rematch though, he didnt need to.
This. It took a few rounds for Joe to figure him out. A rematch would have been worse for Kessler. It is honorable to do the Froch rematch though.

The US predominantly. For the most part a fighter really need to fight (and win) in the States a few times for most US fans to rate a fighter. A few more wins in the US and they would have given him a pass.

Joe was a great fighter, he could have achieved more but he achieved more than enough to be respected.

I was just about to post 'believe it or not, some will', but....

Kessler has always struck me as having great heart but the downside of this is that he can be superthick as well. He just seems a bit simple in the ring - if his plan A develops a hole, he rarely has a decent backup plan. Whereas Calzaghe had his superfitness and high punch rate/low hit rate to fallback on when he found he wasnt as good a boxer as Mikkel.

I'd have to see more of his fights to justify that view but thats what it seems like.

Hes perhaps a little too fearless. He doesnt know how to be cautious and step back, gear down and rest for a bit. Perhaps hes gained that maturity lately. He will need it to be beat Froch again - the last fight could have gone either way.

Can't blame Kessler for wanting the rematch, can't blame at Calzaghe for not making the rematch, there was no point for him.
