    WTF is a lucky punch?!

its a boxing match, one opponent is trying to hit the other opponent cleanly and to inflict the most amount of damage possible..so how is it lucky (after weeks, months, years of training) to actually do so...

this is related to marquez/garcia threads where they landed 'lucky'

p.s. I don't believe in luck! I believe in hard work and training increasing the chances..

I believe in luck but not much in boxing unless the guy trips and breaks his leg or something

I never use the term but I think of it as a punch a guy was lucky to have landed because he was otherwise on his way to losing. Rarely does it truly negate still, but rather it depicts a scenario. I may say I was lucky to have avoided a car accident today, but it was in fact my driving skill that got me out of danger. I think some people get far too butthurt over the use of the lucky punch term.
