Do you think the Ring will put up their belt for the Floyd-Guerrero fight?

Floyd is #1 and Robert is #3..Floyd already beat the #2 in Jmm...Donaire just picked up a Ring title by beating the #1 when he was #3..thoughts?

Great question. I would assume so since it's vacant.

Floyd may get to snatch another ring title, then if he fights Canelo in Sept that would be for the Ring title as well

Since the new rule is the two guys only have to be in the top 5 to fight for it I imagine it will be.

It's unfortunate, the new rule that is, it basically made the most credible belt out there worthless.

            According to the rules, yes.

Also, forget the rules and think who are the best fighters in the WW division.

            Floyd Mayweather Jr
            Juan Manuel Marquez
            Manny Pacquiao/Timothy Bradley
            Robert Guerrero

IMO, not The Ring's opinion, those are the best 5 at WW.

Floyd is not fighting Marquez, he already beat him and I don't think Marquez is eager to fight Floyd either.

You know what just happened to Manny Pacquiao.

Timothy Bradley is with Top Rank and came off a Draw to Pacquiao, that was scored as a win for him.

Robert Guerrero just came off two good wins at 147. He, after Marquez, is the best choice. He's actually a better choice than Marquez since Floyd already handily beat Marquez.

So in other words, Mayweather vs Guerrero is the best fight to make at WW right now between the #1 vs #2-5. I don't like it, but it's the best fight to make at WW.

they should. floyd already beat marquez at welter and guerrero has a better resume at the weight than anyone else.

It's actually possible to win a Ring belt with the #2 facing #5 so of course they will

Obviously they shouldn't since JMM is #2. The ring belt is completely worthless now

u would have a point if 1. floyd didnt already beat him at said weight 2. no1 wants to see the fight again, including jmm in other words floyd vs. jmm isnt happening in all likelyhood so yes jmm should be skipped over

The only time it shouldnt be #1 vs #2 is when for example Cotto was ranked #1 and then Floyd beating him made Floyd #1 and then cotto was bumped down to #2. Obviously it doesnt make sense that a rematch would give a Ring title so #1 vs #3 is acceptable

Floyd beat JMM more then 3 years ago, and now JMM has hes risen to #2 with basically 2 wins over Pac since then. Even if it is a rematch, thats the fight that gives us the best WW

All these new bull**** rules from Ring are just that, bull****. It just gives guys like Larry more thread ideas
