However if they fought at 154, there'd be no excuse. I am sure Martinez makes the weight just fine. Floyd is a 2 time champ there & he's looking at ginger there.

Lame guys want to see Floyd ginger. Real, true fans know Martinez is the most deserving, most dangerous & the only sellable threat to Floyd right now.
so if by chance martinez/floyd looks like dawson/ward because of the move down in weight, will u still give floyd full credit for the victory?

Bro, while I understand your view on how much greater legacy-wise for a May/Martinez fight @160 would be for Floyd. Floyd does not have that type of hunger in him to "jump up" 2 classes and basically give an advantage to his opponent (regardless if its Sergio or not).

A 154 bout between the two is more realistic due to Floyd having a 154 strap, and Sergio saying he can make the weight. If he comes in drained, that is his own fault (see ODLH/Manny).

The weight and age advantages already go in Floyd's favor @154 but the fight will NEVER happen.

(on a sidenote: this fight would be Floyd's "2nd" 2013 fight. The Ghost as an opponent is a perfectly timed opponent and Floyd would not be Floyd if he missed this. But Robert's story- I wouldnt mind him getting a nice payday, but his chances of winning are slim IMO).

Floyd is a legit 154lb'er, #1 in the division too

160 is just another step up

Any fight at 154 is meaningless

Floyd beats ginger, that fights only interesting because of how popular that carrot eating ****er is

I would as long as he gives Sergio the amount of time he requests to try and lose the weight in a healthy manner.

Floyd has never been close to the limit at 154 , he gave the weight away that dont make him a legit 154 fighter , it makes him a great fighter giving size to healthy opponents , but that handicap is not enough you want more , well its not unlimited , 160 is too big for Floyd he would be a fat blimp 10 pounds more than his Cotto fight , while SM would be around 170 ripped .

You idiots are full of sht , he barely makes 150 bulked up , he weighed 146 spanking JMM and Manny was 147 , if Manny can fight Martinez at 160 then I guess Floyd can , but wait Manny was to scared to fight Cotto at 154 , but wait Manny was to scared to fight Cotto at 147 , the double standards from you Pac ******s is insane , I know you want Floyd beaten so bad , why dont you try and find a WW to do it , because Floyd came from LW to WW .

Sergio has never entered the ring higher than 168 (once I believe), so I doubt that changes in a Mayweather fight. I believe he typically weighed around 163 or 164 when he fought at JMW (Ortiz weighed 164 against Floyd and Alvarez come into fight nights at 167 currently), so not much difference at MW.

Also, if Floyd makes him fight at a catchweight below 154 or even at 154 Martinez has suggested he would try to lose the weight in a healthy manner (as long as he is given time), which could suggest he may try to shed some pounds off his fight night weight (maybe back down to 164 or 163). The time would allow him to grow more accustomed to fighting at that weight again and not need to rehydrate as much.

Martinez is going to be 38 in a few months and has offered to fight Floyd below 154. As such even if the fight takes place at 154 it will likely be difficult for Martinez to make 154 again (less difficult if he has the requested amount of time), which may make up for the size inequality.

I would also point out Floyd could come in at 150-152 if he is particularly concerned with Martinez' size. That would not be inconceivable considering he has weighed in at that weight and walks around right around there as well.

thats a good fight..Im thinking Ward vs Floyd first though, why not test his skill against a fighter who could match him skill wise!..Floyd should move up slowly at his age..his last fights should be with the Klits before he retires an ATG
