to answer your question yes, that gay ass punk floyd mayweather jr...
Is there a More Overrated Boxer in a WeightClass than Tommy Hearns?

He KO'ed him in 81 and retired in 82...... Then came back and fought Hagler in 87.... You know the guy that scrambled Hearns brainsI think Tommy Hearns was an all time great welterweight and when he outgrew welterweight he was an all time great jr. middleweight. He flattened Duran in two rounds so how can Duran be a better welterweight than him. Leonard did beat him but he was way behind on points and would have lost to Hearns if it had been a 12 round fight. Leonard avoided a return fight with Hearns for years until he thought Hearns was shot. Hearns deserved to win the rematch with Leonard. He had the hardest, fastest straight right of any fighter I ever saw at that weight. He also had the best left jab and some very fast hands and combinations. His chin was not the best at middleweight but his other assets made up for it. If he is an overrated welterweight count me among the overraters.
How did he avoid a guy he KO'ed for years when he retired one fight later???

Hearns came in to the first Leonard fight way under the limiit. And in there second fight Leonard was no longer a welter weight either. He was not over rated against Leonard at welter he just did not win on that particular night. He wanted a rematch but Leonard waits for people to be out of shape to fight them.Comment

I'm a big Hearns fan & I can see the TS touched a few nerves here but he has a point. I think he's just putting his point across badly.
Hearns destroyed everyone he fought at Welter until he came up against Ray Leonard - a true all time great & better than anyone boxing today (in my humble opinion). He never fought even remotely close to Welter again & he wasn't even 23.
So while he was a great fighter, you can't really say he was a great welterweight. He had great potential but wasn't around at Championship level at that weight for long. None of us would say Oscar De La Hoya was a great Super Featherweight & he never lost at the weight. Neither would we claim that Manny Pacquiao was a great Flyweight.
Like I said, the TS is a little abrasive but you could argue that Hearns was not a great Welter. I think he was, but his greatness was not about what he achieved at 147. He really proved himself at Light Middle with the wins over (ex Welter champs) Benitez & Duran as well as his amazing battle with Hagler.Comment

Thank you taan, I doubt a lot of these posters know who Shields and Espada were. Tough journeymen type fighters. Cuevas was a decent win but that doesn't make an ATG welterweight.I'm a big Hearns fan & I can see the TS touched a few nerves here but he has a point.
