hes got power, he just chooses not to go for the KO.

I think he really just has no power,It looked like he really tried his damndest to KO Sol,great headshots,and he put the necessary work to the body.He came close, but no cigar.

I use to think he just didnt go for the KO because he was too defensiv minded also...but the guy just dosent have much behind his punches.

What do ALL of you boxing guru's here think of James Toney's career? Is he a future HOFer?

EDIT- There is no doubt in my mind that EVERY single one of you know your boxing. From the sweet science, the current scene, and boxing history. Cudos to you guys...You have all taught me well.

Toney have one punch KO power at 160 and 168? I would have to say no. Maybe on someone with a less than average chin...

As for Toney being a future HOF'er? Naw man, well, not yet at least. There are still a few fights he needs to do to be considered in that distinguished place.

On the other hand I don't think Winky doesn't have per se, I feel that he just doesn't want to use his power. Unless, like someone said before me, he's 110% sure he can land and get out before anything can tag him.

Like it or not, Winky has adopted a very different style of fighting than most of us have seen. Some say it's boring to watch, some say it's pure boxing. Either way... you cannot deny his immense skill and impressive record.

Toney is a lock on the HOF, guaranteed, even if he loses his next 3 fights by KO.

As far as Wink goes, well, he's got a little power when he wants to use it, but has never been a fan friendly slugger type. He also looked terrible in his last fight, dominated by a smaller man. Maybe he was sick, but he might consider loosening up his style a bit. He looked too robotic out there and creative fighters, esp bigger stronger guys like Taylor are gonna be probing him, looking for a big shot.
