Hunter Khan : How is it going to work out?

If this young man is going to be truely honest about his faults and wants to improve than he can! If he doesn't then it won't happen! I do believe he needs to box much more than fight! He seemes to have good speed all the way around someone taught him combinations and sequences! So the basics are there I think his game plan needs to be defined and then tweaked as he knows who he's fighting. This type of boxer reminds me of Chad Dawson, both are straight up boxers who benefited from foot and hand speed and all of a sudden think their Sugar Ray Robinson and can knock people out!!
What I see are two young men who are capable of winning alot of rounds with talent and intelligence. I think they both punch well enough to gain respect but must be mentally tuffer and they need to be on the same page with their trainer and have someone in their corner that can relate what needs to be done with their opponents and how THEY can do it.
Its pretty tuff to develop trust with someone you know for a few months but if you have respect for them it could happen.
We'll see over the next few bouts and hopefully the team could come together with positive results! Ray Corso

But Hunter is not teaching a kid from scratch he is teaching someone with grooved in habits that are not going to be easy to change.
Amir Khan is a flawed fighter with poor defense,no inside fighting skills and low level ring IQ. But he is FAST. The theory is if his deficiencies can be rectified he will be a great fighter. But when you have been fighting as long as Khan has with heavily ingrained habits making changes where they become automatic is a big ask especially where everything is thrown at warp speed. It is one thing learning new correct movements slowly but Khan is so fast he has to be on pure automatic and making real changes that will show and hold up under pressure is asking a lot.
Is it all to late for Khan to REALLY change. How do you see the partnership working out over time?

As another poster said Khan has been fighting pretty much the same way for a decade, its going to take many 8 week camps to sort out the stuff he does wrong, so if hes truly dedicated to becoming a better fighter i reckon he'll do what Hunter says. Otherwise we are going to get the old **** next time he steps up.Last edited by Tom Cruise; 12-21-2012, 09:42 PM.

A lot of time has past and we are now in a better position to make an opinion. has Khan improved beyond recognition ? Is he a lot better now under Hunter? Does anyone know if he is working full time with hunter or is he doing his own thing and sees hunter from time to time?

Some people say he was better under Roach but he had to change his style or he was going to get KO'd again.
