HBO showing PPV's a week later...

How many more PPV buys would HBO get if they didn't immediately re-air the fights a week later? Or better yet, what if they NEVER re-aired the fights and your only hope to see it was to order the PPV? I think their numbers would skyrocket. What do you think?

Doesn't matter, ppl will find a way to watch it online a week later or something. Also showing them a week later exposes the fighters to their fan base more.

Yea because the only way to watch a fight is thru HBO.

U can easily watch a fight in full HD 2 hours after the fight ends

I think their marketing people have considered all the angles and probably figured out that its not a big difference in ppv buys. They only recently starting re-airing the fight, a little while ago they used to offer it again as a ppv fight replay which you would have to pay for. So I figure that probably wasnt very profitable at all to do so they stopped that all together and started offering it one week later as a free replay.

With the way they are marketing the boxing brand at HBO this makes the most sense to do, as you not only cater to an audience that may not have seen the fight live and may order the next one, but you also get to provide an indepth analysis one week later for the boxing fans out there. Thru mediums like the fight game. I think HBO is doing great things with the boxing and their telecast's now including and really updated the product and providing access to alot more boxing news and information.

Sorry for the long answer, but short answer, no it probably doesnt put a dent in their ppv profits as most fans prefer to watch live, and bar, pubs, theaters etc. buy licenses for ppv as well. If they lost money they wouldnt be doing it.
