As boxing fans how can you not appreciate khan's handspeed/athleticism?

and combination punching, I just logged in today and I don't see anything but hate threads..... he put on a clinic last night. I can't remember a welterweight/or superlight weight in recent memory with that combination of athleticism handspeed and combination punching, IMO you guys should show more appreciation/love for it. Especially since you guys consider yourself true boxing/sweet science fans.

I would like to see a fight between him and mayweather next year.......

How do you think he does against

    Broner
    Brook
    Rois
    Ghost
    Garcia(rematch)
    Matty ice
    bradley

Well I think most of the threads about Khan are pointing out that his flaws are still present. Handspeed and athleticism is all good, but you need smarts in boxing which is something Khan hasn't shown he has. He still leaves himself open, fights like an amateur, and doesn't vary his attack enough.

    Against the competition you listed:

Broner - KO'd (too much power, smarts)
Brook - tough fight for him, could go either way. They're evenly matched imo.
Rios - KO'd (too much pressure, power)
Ghost - loses (too crafty, too active, decent power)
Garcia - KO'd (too much power, great timing)
Matty Ice - KO'd (see Broner)
    Bradley - loses (see Guerrero)

He has the skill set to be a great fighter, but it's a shame about his chin. He almost needs to become a completely different fighter to compete at the elite level. I'm not a Khan hater by no means, I'm actually a fan of the guy, but he's a flawed fighter with a weak chin. It'll be a difficult road for him going forward.

his hands are about as fast p4p as we've got in boxing. that's not all that goes into it, though.

I don't think too many boxing fans are questioning Khan's athletic gifts. He has two of the fastest hands in the sport. His ability to punch in combination is also excellent and can at times overwhelm his opponents. But he's not a complete fighter by any stretch, nor is he an intelligent fighter (although he improved in this department last night)

The problem with reading too much into the Molina fight is that Molina wasn't capable of forcing too many of Khan's bad habits to resurface. Khan looked good and he did show patience, but it's easier to be controlled when you're dictating the pace of the fight. It'll be interesting to see how he reacts to being pressured in the way that Lamont Peterson pressured him.

As for your potential match-ups, Floyd embarrasses him.

He's competitive against Bradley. I think they present problems for each other. I'd slightly lean towards Bradley I guess, but wouldn't be shocked either way.

He'd have to be favoured against Brook, although it looks a decent fight. His workrate could win him that fight and he's also more proven at this level than Kell.

I don't think he'd like Rios' pressure. As long as Brandon's chin holds up, he probably gets to Khan eventually.

The Garcia rematch, if it was fought now, probably has a similar look to the first fight, although I'd expect it to last longer. Khan has the ability to outbox Garcia, but he's gonna get hit with something big sooner or later and his chin will always be a question mark. Garcia also knows that he can hurt Khan at any given moment, and he's also good at punching with his opponent, which is when you're most likely to land something telling on Amir.

Robert Guerrero would be an excellent fight, which I'd expect the Ghost to win. He's a more well-rounded fighter, better on the inside and looks the better puncher at 147, which is where the fight would take place.

I'd probably also pick Broner to beat him. Styles make fights and Broner is a tough nut to crack. Khan at 140 gives him his toughest fight, but Broner just looks that little bit special.

That's exactly what this fight was for. To showcase Khan's skills and have people going "wow" again, instead of talking about the Garcia TKO.

His next fight, against Lopez is a good fight, that he will probably win if he can fight smart. He'll be pushed and he'll be drawn in to a fight with Lopez, this is where Hunter's job is going to get tough. Khan's just not that smart like Ward.

I feel bad for Hunter, he has an excellent fighter in Andre Ward, then he takes in Khan and Angulo? W...T...F, it's gonna make him look like a bad trainer, but he just took in fighters with terrible habits that will not change no matter what trainer they have. That's like Mayweather Sr training Ricky Hatton. It doesn't match. Look at Angulo yesterday, that was a travesty even though he won. Hunter got his work cut out for him with these two.

Hand speed is great, but when it's the only great thing you have, you'll come up short against the better fighters. As has been the case.

He was in with a B grade opponent that cant punch , and Molina was a lot smaller if he didnt already have enough handicaps , why do guys like the TS never take into account the classes , its like you see a good fighter against a hack and then rave about the beat down , lets see what Khan does when in with the top guys that are his size .
